Bed Stuy Apartments for Rent

From hip-hop icons to motion picture backdrops, the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant – commonly called Bed Stuy – has been a center of diverse culture since the early 20th century, playing home to a proverbial who’s who in the entertainment and sports worlds, a list that includes Jackie Robinson, Mike Tyson, Chris Rock, Jackie Gleason and Jay-Z. Here, ornate 19th-century townhouses pack the tree-lined streets, while indie boutiques on Tompkins Place fill the void.

Bed Stuy Apartments for Rent - French bistros, Southern comfort food, and Caribbean fare define the dining scene of Bed Stuy, the diverse crowds filling hip, cozy bars nearby as well, many offerings live music.

Running across the center of Brooklyn, Bedford-Stuyvesant sits between Williamsburg to its north and Crown Heights to its south; Clinton Hill, to the west side of Bed Stuy, was long considered part of the neighborhood, but while Clinton Hill and Bed Stuy share much in common, it’s the appeal of the area that is most obvious.

Bed Stuy apartments offer an easy commute to Manhattan and boast lower rents than nearby Williamsburg and Clinton Hill, making this a popular neighborhood for young professionals and students. When it comes to nearby public transit, the New York City Subway system runs a number of trains through the area, namely the M, J, Z, A, C and G lines.

Bed Stuy’s close proximity to Manhattan makes it an ideal neighborhood for those seeking a weekend escape, with the lush patios and rooftop decks of local bars and restaurants providing prime sunset views. The Brooklyn Museum, Central Library and Children’s Museum of Art offer museum-goers plenty to do during any visit.

Public schools in Bed Stuy serve a number of students, offering a mix of highly rated and under-performing options. Children living in Bed Stuy will attend PS 380 The Norman L.F. Maier School for kindergarten through fifth grade, I.S. 383 (Mott) JHS for sixth through eighth grades, and Midwood High School for ninth through twelfth grades.

Bed-Stuy is a neighborhood in the central portion of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. As originally defined, Bed-Stuy included portions of what are now called Crown Heights and Bedford–Stuyvesant; it presently comprises the larger section of the latter. Since the late 20th century, Bed-Stuy has been commonly used to describe the entire northern section of Brooklyn, extending into the adjacent neighborhoods of Bushwick and Brownsville.
